Meetings that cost nothing 6

Nothing is charged at the meetings on this list; their pages say so in plain words. The longest is the Saturday afternoon at the Garage Ost in the east of Leipzig, from two until six, and the most bookish the Chess Club at Orinoco Books, every other Monday from seven to nine among the shelves on the Mariannenstraße. The Bürgerverein Messemagistrale on the Straße des 18. Oktober puts on free chess mornings for seniors.

In Halle-Neustadt the Passage 13 neighbourhood café keeps its Monday afternoon meeting free for beginners and advanced players, and the Stadtbibliothek Halle opened its chess day of 20 July 2026 at four in the afternoon with a short introductory talk. In Zwenkau the games evening at the KulturKino café, for ten- to eighteen-year-olds, costs nothing either, with 4 November 2026 among its dates.
