About this list
A chess Verein here is either a club of its own or the chess department of a sports club, and nearly all of them field teams in the leagues: on the Saxon side in the nuLiga portal of the Schachverband Sachsen, in Halle and the Saalekreis in the results portal of the Landesschachverband Sachsen-Anhalt. In Leipzig SG Turm from Grünau and the Schachfreunde Fortuna play in the Sachsenliga and the first team of VfB Schach in the Oberliga; the Schachzentrum Clara-Zetkin-Park sets out its boards in the park in summer and moves into the city library for the winter.
Halle’s clubs range from the Schachverein Saalespringer, with a team in the 2. Oberliga Ost, to the Reideburger SV in the Verbandsliga and the PostTurnSportVerein, whose Wednesday evening is open to everyone. Around the two cities there are clubs in Markkleeberg, Grimma, Naunhof, Taucha, Krostitz, Torgau and Oschatz, in Sennewitz, Merseburg, Teutschenthal and Bad Dürrenberg, and in villages from Großlehna to Falkenhain.
